Humans are not the sole culprit in climate change. The climate is always changing. What humans have done is aggravated the climate so that you have increased climate disruption. What explains this is the concept of entropy. I was reading another chapter in Richard Muller’s, Now and his chapter on entropy that include discussions about Carnot efficiency and thermodynamics made me think about climate change. Heat moves from hot to cold. That is not entropy, that is the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics which contributes to the phenomenon of entropy. You can prove that 2nd Law. It is one of the few things you can prove or “independently rediscover” even at a “pre-scientistic” level of knowledge. Human contribution to the movement of heat in the atmosphere is aggravating climate change in a direction that will either be bad or have no ill effect on humans. However, the landscape will change, animals will either go extinct or adapt to survive. That is the price the rest of nature must pay for the expansion of human civilization through the methods we’ve chosen to function in this world.
